IS SASAKI KENPO SIMILAR TO TRADITIONAL AMERICAN KENPO?

The Sasaki’s Kenpo Karate System was designed for quality not quantity. The series of DVD’S 1 through 10 or streaming video hosted by BlackBelt Life Productions have all the required techniques from yellow belt to First Degree Black. We tailored the requirements to produce a more balanced, knowledgeable, confident, and skilled Martial Artist at an earlier stage in training. Here’s a brief description of the requirements. There are fewer techniques per belt level, we recommended the martial artist do the techniques, forms and sets right and left handed. At the beginner’s level, we have introduced extensions so one can see there are fewer techniques but a handful of the techniques are a little more sophisticated than the traditional ones. The belt ranking is similar to the traditional with the addition of Brown/Black belt prior to the rank of first degree Black. We spread out the traditional required techniques without discarding any. If one wants to learn all 250 techniques, the opportunity is still there. Although there are less techniques per rank, there is one more belt level, and Sasaki’s Kenpo Karate requirements go to the level of First Degree Black. Creating your own form and thesis are also a part of the Brown and up level as well as creating your own mass attack for 1st brown and up.
